HAVE YOU HEARD... ABOUT THE WEIGHT DEBATE

A Generally Accepted Healthy Weight Range is based on a measurement known as the ‘Body Mass Index’ or BMI, which can be calculated if you know your weight and height as follows.

Take your height in meters and multiply the figure by itself.
1.75 x 1.75m = 3.06
Weight =72kg
Then divide your height squared by your weight = 72/3.06 = BMI 23.5

Body mass index indicates a recommended weight range as individual body frames vary.

-BMI Under 18 = Underweight
-BMI 18 - 25 = Normal
-BMI 25 - 30 = Overweight
-BMI Over 30 = Obese

For people with lots of Muscle though this may not be an accurate method, as muscle weighs more than fat. Scientists have recently developed a 3D Scanning machine that can gauge how much body fat a person is carrying. This Body Volume Index-BVI measuring equipment is being tested at Birmingham’s Heartland Hospital and will be fully assessed, scanning more than 20,000 people
Over the next two years, When one human guinea pig was tested, a young athletic male with a BMI of 28 (= Overweight) his BVI scan correctly showed that his weight is largely due to muscle as he carries very little fat.
The thin and beautiful ‘ideal images’ constantly featured in media and magazines has continued to fuel the already meteoric rise of the ‘Slimming Business’ an industry estimated to be worth Billions!
For decades, ‘Dieting’ has been seen as something generally done by women.
Health and Weight loss products, until recently, have been targeted mainly at female customers.
